The Federal
Deposit Insurance Corporation has fallen victim to another phishing attack.
The fraudulent emails are being sent from alert@fdic.gov
and subscriptions@fdic.gov with the
subject line: FDIC: Your business account.
The emails urge business owners to click links,
which appears to provide the FDIC identity authentication
information about their financial institutions. The online identity verification emails then state that business accounts and loans may be
affected by acquiring-bank relationships, offering vendors information about
how they can file claims against the receivership.
The FDIC has announced they do not issue
unsolicited emails to consumers or business account holders.
The FDIC fell victim to phishers in June.
